Katana with original antique restored Koshirae
At the Meiji period (明治時代, Meiji-jidai) after the edict (廃刀令, Haitōrei) that prohibits carrying swords (mistakenly considered as prohibiting the same Katana swords) influenced the new pieces now for the family and as a continuation of the tradition, in a short time they began to be part of the military sword mounts. Vegetable decorations appear more frequently (leaves, flowers, fruits ...) Some Koshirae are more sober (like this one) while others are more elaborated frequently in Maki-e (蒔絵, sprinkled picture) a Japanese traditional technique.
